It's almost everyone's dream, being a youngster or an adult, to own a house they called home in the future; Thee was no exception. But like amongst the many Thais in Bangkok, they cannot afford a home of their own. Living off with a mere salary to support the whole family, where the wife, Parn, who doesn't work, they couldn't help but live in an ragged old rental apartment. At the same time, Thee was being societally pressured of being called a bad husband for not being able to buy a house for his family.
One day, Thee was received by a job opportunity as the Head of Marketing in a company located in Northern Thailand, Chiang Mai. With an increased salary now, without hesitation, Thee decides to move out of Bangkok along with his wife and 2 kids to Chiang Mai and get a house there, believing they would live a better and happier life there in a small town called Laddaland. Finally, Thee feels contented and smiling with pride, about being able to live with his family in this new home.
Thee was thinking about hiring a nice and submissive Burmese maid to take care of his new home.
Shortly after, news start to spread that evening about a Burmese maid being brutally murdered in a neighbor's house, and the mutilated body found inside a refrigerator. Thee, thinking nothing of it, brushes off the matter saying that people die everyday and we ought to live with it. Parn could sense something was terribly wrong about the neighborhood around her, but with Thee being so stubborn, he still didn't care much. But slowly, death starts to take over homes, one by one, instilling Thee's neighbors with fear and insanity. Slowly but surely, neighbors started fleeing from the town, but Thee and his family remained and waiting for things to happen. Until one fine night, their dead neighbors start knocking onto their doors.

Laddaland is the next installment of the horror series presented to you by the same studio that brought you "Coming Soon", "4bia" and "Phobia 2". The storyline for this movie is good because it's something you can relate to. A small family of 4, wanting to live a better life, and then horrible events occurred to their neighbors and they got haunted by them. I can say for this movie, it really spooked me out and I'm literally on the edge of my seat in the entire length of the movie. This time round, the producers decided to take the gory path in this film. You can expect a lot of mangled and gruesome scenes; i.e. the neighbor's boy where his whole face was split open, because his father murdered the whole family with a gun and shot him in the face, exposing the inner guts of the head; and the grandmother, with a big hole on her left eye. Other than that, the film is good with the storyline, plot and actors.
JM's rating: 8/10
On the side note, I just realized that on the poster, you can see a face/skull on the floor where the girl is standing on. It can be seen more clearly with the Thai version of the poster.
